Walters Blue Devils entered the game against the Cordell Blue Devils with what on paper looked to be a winnable game for the home team. Both Walters and Cordell started the game at 0-4 on this Covid-19 shortened season and were looking for that first win of each team’s tough season.

Walters Coach Chuck Terry’s game plan became clear out the gate that the team would rely on the legs of #30 Clay Graham as the run game was the focus in the first half. That plan came up short as Cordell’s defense was a lot tougher than it appeared holding Graham to less the fifteen yards on eleven attempts in the first half. The score at half was 34-0 Cordell as Walters could not muster anything positive in the first half.

The second half was more of the same as second year QB Kason Johnson for Walters just could not get time to do much with the ball behind the blocking of the front line. His throws were hurried and he was sacked four times in the game. He fumbled once and was picked twice with one being returned for a Cordell touchdown. Running back Graham carried the ball 12 times for Walters and was held to just sixteen yards in the second half. Walters senior back Ethan Burton carried the ball only three times for 8 total yards as Cordell proves to be to much for Walters winning the game 42-0.

Walters drops to 0-5 on the season and heads into the playoffs searching for answers as nothing seems to be working for the small squad of late.

Walters #30 Clay Graham, #1 Ethan Burton, and #56 Cyrus Blackstar lead the team in tackles with # 50 Dallas Clark, #7 Jermaine Chasenah, and #54 Axel Mallow not far behind. #30 Clay Graham recovered one fumble.

QB/Punter #5 Kason Johnson went 5-15 passing, was sacked 4 times, had one fumble, was Intercepted twice, and only managed 41 yards passing in a rough night for the young signal caller.

#30 Clay Graham lead all running backs with 31 yards while #1 Ethan Burton put up only 8 and # 11 Karson Coleman had a rough night ending in negative yards. #9 Corbin Good lead all receivers with 26 yards while #11 Karson Coleman put up 17 yards.

#55 Dustin Fugett had the most yards of the game as he rattled off 44 yards of kickoff return while #30 Clay Graham managed about 12 yards.
