City Of Walters Names Matt LaFee As New City Manager

Walters, Okla.-The City of Walters is pleased to announce and welcome Matt LaFee as the new City Manager effective June 3, 2024. On, Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, in a special called City Council Meeting, the Walters City Council hired Matt LaFee to the City Manager position.

“I’m thrilled at this wonderful opportunity the Lord has blessed me with, to serve the great community of Walters. I look forward to working together with the residents, city employees, mayor and city council to help improve the beautiful City of Walters,” remarked LaFee, upon accepting the position of City Manger for the Community of Walters.

Matt brings an array of experience and business acumen to the City Manager position. As a successful entrepreneur and businessman, he has overseen multiple projects, worked with local city governments, and built relationships with Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Directors. He was involved in the expansion of Stephen’s County Fairgrounds events, through the approval of alcohol sales, which let to an increase in tourism and local tax revenue. He was also part of the downtown revitalization project in Chickasha, OK, bringing in one of the first major businesses to begin the project. Matt’s work experience includes the oil, banking, security, technology and hospitality industries.

When it comes to Walters, he is excited about being an advocate for the City and seeing the potential it has to attract new residents and businesses. He is eager to bring the knowledge he has about grant writing to research and find grants available for large projects for streets, parks, and infrastructure. He has goals to enhance the downtown area, drawing businesses to Main Street and promoting the beauty of Walters by living out moto “small town, big heart”.

Matt is a member of Bethel Church and proud father of three beautiful daughters. He currently resides in Duncan, OK, but is eager to move to and be a part of the Walters Community.
