The WHS Blue Devils opened the 2022 OSSAA high school football season last Friday at Elmer Graham Stadium hosting the Konawa Tigers. This year the Blue Devils are 33 members strong on the roster and expecting great things to happen. Captains of the team are Seniors, Karson Coleman, Clay Graham, and Ryan Kosechata; Junior, Corbin Good. Although the Blue Devils put points on the board first, the Tigers answered back but did not convert on their extra points. At halftime, the score was tied 14-14. However, the Blue Devils came back out on fire after halftime and never looked back, fueled by an early kickoff return for a touchdown by BJ Palmer. The game's final score went in favor of the Blue Devils 34-14. They are back in action at home this Friday, September 2 at 7:00 pm against the Healdton Bulldogs. Come out and show your support! The Walters Football Program is also currently doing the annual Blue Devil Discount Card fundraiser, contact any player (middle school or high school) or Coach Chuck Terry if you'd like to purchase one before Sept. 5.
