Janet Abbe, 77

Memorial Service at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Monday, August 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

Janet Marie Abbe was born to Lois Anthony and Mary Marie "Pete" (Brooks) Zachary on August 5, 1944 in Burkburnett, TX and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on August 18, 2021 at the age of 77 years and 13 days.

Janet grew up at Cookietown, OK in the Union Valley Community, attended Union Valley School and eventually Walters High School. She married Clyde Lee Abbe on Sept. 1, 1964 at Wichita Falls, TX and to the union 2 children were born.

Early on she worked several years at Sears in Lawton and then worked many years at Loves in Walters. She was also employed as an EMT for a time with the Walters Ambulance Service and later worked as a stocker for the PX at Fort Sill. She and Lee moved to Wichita Falls in late 1990’s.

Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, discovering storage unit treasures, was intrigued by tools and enjoyed reading books, particularly Halequin Romance novels. She loved her animals!

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Pete Zachary; her husband, Clyde Lee Abbe; her daughter, Christi Prouty; an infant granddaughter, Journey Prouty; and her grandson, Tony Prouty.

She is survived by her son, Brent Abbe of Walters, OK; her son-in-law, Mike Prouty of Wichita Falls, TX; her sister, Peggy Mahan of North Richland Hills, TX; 8 grandchildren Dakota Prouty, Madison Prouty and Levi Prouty and all of Wichita Falls, Casey Abbe and Brandon Abbe of Walters, Joshua Abbe of Comanche, OK, Jordan Abbe of Walters and Zachary Abbe of Cache, OK; 7 great grandchildren, Levi Prouty, Tyler Prouty, Nonie Prouty, Braxton Abbe, Beckham Abbe, Brentley Abbe and Oakley Abbe; other relatives and friends.
