The Walters Chamber of Commerce board met in regular session on June 13th, 2022 at Noon, at the Walters Chamber Meeting Room, in Walters, Oklahoma. The meeting was called to order by Board President William McKay.
Item #1--- Board Members present were: Joi Bellamy, Benne Brewer, Katy Kinder, William McKay, Myiul Morris, Marla Stapp, Gina Suson, Christian Thomas, and Wendy Zimmerman. Board Members Jack Jacob, Donna Ouellette, & Brantley Tillery were unable to attend.
Item #2—Additional Chamber Members and/or Visitors present were: Arlet Martin (SONIC) and Zach Young (COTTON ELECTRIC).
Item #3—Marla Stapp made a motion to approve the May, 2022 meeting minutes. Benne Brewer seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #4—Gina Suson made a motion to approve the May, 2022 Treasurer’s reports. Marla Stapp seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #5--- Joi Bellamy was chosen as chairperson for the upcoming Ice Cream Freeze-Off, scheduled for August 20th. Wendy Zimmerman will co-chair. Cash Prizes of $50 for each of three divisions (Choco./Vanilla, Fruit, or Specialty), as well as Grand Champion, for a total of $200.00, were approved. Benne Brewer made a motion to approve the payments of $200.00 total, payable from the General Fund. Marla Stapp seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #6— The Board discussed updates for the upcoming Rodeo Parade, scheduled for July 14th.
Item # 7—The Board discussed updates for the upcoming 4th of July Festivities, including, but not limited to, the prizes for those that sell the most tickets for the raffles. Katy Kinder stated that those prizes will be: 1st Place: Nintendo Switch Neon with Wired Headset, Nano Wireless, 2nd Place: Meta Quest 2—Advanced All-in-One Virtual Reality Headset—128 GB, 3rd Place: $100 Amazon Gift Card Top 3 Sellers will also receive a Season Pass to the WALTERS SWIMMING POOL, a ticket to the WALTERS RODEO, and a Pass to HAWK HILS FARMS, as well as other prizes.
Item # 8— The Board discussed the Shop Local Campaign, stating that this project is ongoing, with more wonderful ideas being presented, which should be very beneficial to our local businesses. Myiul Morris, Zach Young, Katy Kinder, Christian Thomas, & Benne Brewer brought up even more wonderful ideas to help promote our businesses, & our community!
