I am honored and grateful to announce that the Mayor and City Council have voted to renew my contract as City Manager for the City of Walters. I sincerely appreciate the confidence that Mayor Jonathan Morgan and our City Council have placed in me and the work we are accomplishing together.
Over the past several years, we have made tremendous progress as a community and I believe the best is still ahead. Our shared vision for Walters is built upon strong infrastructure, responsible growth and an unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.
I recently presented a five-year strategic plan focused on infrastructure improvements and long-term community development. Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City of Walters has more than $6 million in planned infrastructure investments, made possible primarily through state and federal grants, along with strategic financing opportunities. These projects include critical upgrades to our electric, water, wastewater, transportation, and community facilities that will help maintain and position our city for growth over the next 10 to 15 years.
These investments are not simply about maintaining what we have today, they are about building a stronger foundation for future generations. They will improve reliability, support economic development and enhance the services our citizens depend upon every day.
I am incredibly proud to serve the people of Walters. The vision of our Mayor and City Council aligns closely with my own and together we remain committed to moving our community forward. Through teamwork, sound planning and continued investment, I believe Walters will continue to experience meaningful progress and lasting success.
Thank you to our residents, employees, community partners and elected officials for your support and trust. I look forward to continuing this important work and helping make Walters an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
Matt LaFee, City Manager, City of Walters
