Walters Man Arrested Following Child Abuse Investigation

WALTERS, OK – On March 13, 2026, the Walters Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate a child abuse case.

That afternoon, OSBI special agents were informed that a four-month-old child received medical attention at a hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. Medical personnel determined the child had suffered significant injuries.

Investigators learned the child was transported to the hospital by a family member earlier that day. OSBI special agents spoke to the family member, who stated the child’s injuries were sustained at her home in Walters, Oklahoma.

During the investigation, OSBI special agents determined that 28-year-old Deven McNett was responsible for watching the child at the time these injuries occurred.

Based on the information and evidence obtained, McNett was arrested on March 13, 2026. McNett was booked into the Cotton County Jail on complaints of Child Abuse.

At this time, the child is still being treated for their injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

This is still an ongoing investigation. The OSBI appreciates the Walters Police Department for their continued assistance.
