Richard Lee Harris Jr. was born to Richard and Rosie (Jackson) Harris April 24, 1937, on his grandfathers homestead west of Walters, OK and departed his life on September 30, 2026 at the age of 89 in Rhododendron, OR at the age of 89.
He helped farmers parttime, and worked in the oil fields. In 1966 went to work for the government at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. Retired on April 10, 1994 with 28 years. He married Earlene Hicks in 1959 in Walters and to this union a son and daughter was born. They divorced in 1973.
Richard was a member of the First Christian Church in Walters. He graduated from Walters High in May of 1956 and went to attend college for one year at Cameron in Lawton, OK. Richard played football, basketball and baseball in high school. He enjoyed playing bingo and he loved watching all sports. During his retirement he spent winters in South Texas, fishing.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, a great grand daughter, a brother-in-law, and the love of his life Mary Fay Parks Bash.
Survivors include, son, Jimmie and Rhonda of Rhododendron OR, daughter, Donna and Marty Lockman of Newalla, OK, brother, Jerry and Norma Harris, sister Rose Mary Jaspers, 3 grand Children, and 4 great grand children.
