Mrs. Robin Duncan Robertson was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in Duncan, OK.

On Mother’s Day May 12, 1929 Robert H and Pauline (Dowlen) Duncan welcomed their only daughter Roberta (Robin) LaGeia Duncan to their family in Beaumont, TX. Robin spent her childhood in Temple, OK on their family farm on Beaver Creek. The summer after the sixth grade, she, her mother and grandmother, Bessie Dowlen, moved to Stillwater where she enrolled into seventh grade and her mother enrolled at Oklahoma A&M. In both Jr High and High School she was a member of the Tau Omega Beta and Tri Chi social clubs, and a member of the band’s flag twirlers. Upon her mother’s graduation, she and her grandmother moved back to Temple where she completed her senior year of high school in 1947.

In the fall of 1947 she returned to Stillwater where she had, in her words, “The best years of her life..” She did it all. Charter member and one of the first two female members of the Oklahoma A&M Rodeo Team, she milked “wild cows”, danced as often as she could, was a chorus girl in Varsity Revue, and everything in between. She graduated in 1951 with a B.S in Education.

She began her teaching career in Nowata, OK teaching fifth grade. It was there that “those little people, those little faces, hooked her forever” leading to a lifetime as an elementary educator. In the summer of 1952, she moved to Duncan, OK and was hired to teach fourth grade at Lee School. After six years in the classroom she returned to now Oklahoma State University to earn a Master of Science in Elementary Education. Upon completion she was hired to teach at Woodrow Wilson in Duncan, but only for one year. In that year she met her husband, Bill Robertson. After their June 20, 1959 wedding at Duncan’s First Methodist Church, they made their home in Farmington, New Mexico where he was employed by Halliburton. She was hired to teach fourth grade, but then had to resign at the end of the second school year due to the fact that she was carrying their son.

Her pride and joy, her son Todd was born January 22nd, 1962. Being her one and only child he became the center of her world. In the summer of 1963 they made their final move back to Duncan and Robin was hired, once again, to teach fourth grade at Lee School. During this time she obtained both a Reading Specialist and Administrative Certification from Oklahoma University. She taught as a Reading Specialist at Woodrow Wilson and completed her career in 1992, retiring only to take up the role of full-time Mammaw.

Robin was a very active leader in her community. Charter member and president of the Stephens County Reading Association, Charter member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Charter member and Regent of Duncan chapter of Daughters of the American Colonies, first female Stephens County Democratic Chair, charter member of the National Museum of the American Indian and a member of the first Prairie House board of directors.

Robin has been a career long member of the OK Education Association and a National Education Association, where she was elected to represent local teachers at the state and national conventions. She has been a member of the Duncan Methodist Church, where she taught fourth grade Sunday school and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was a greeter and member of United Methodist Women. She is a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Duncan Shakespeare Club, Stephens County Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, OK Historical Society, Stephens County Genealogy Library, Friends of the Library and the Temple History Museum as well as a Lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association and OSU Foundation and Legacy Member as well as 2020 Stephens County Founders Day Queen.

Robin lived a Very Full, Active life, but the simple things brought her the most pleasure. She loved her people, and people loved her. From gardening, decorating for seasons at church or home, dancing, and Oklahoma State Football she was happy. After leaving her students, her two granddaughters (Cace and Casady Robertson) became her new focus, and she kept them with her every day until they were of school age. She volunteered every chance she got in each of their classrooms, never missing a single event.

Robin leaves behind a Legacy that will never be forgotten. In her words, “She loved Learning, Teaching and Kids”. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Robin is preceded in death by her parents, Robert H & Pauline Dowlen Duncan, her husband of 61 years Billy Lee (Bill) Robertson, and so many cousins, and friends so dear to her.

She is survived by her son, Todd Robertson and wife Sherri of Duncan, Granddaughters Cace Robertson of Duncan and Casady Robertson of California, two great-grandchildren Drake and Sadie Richardson of Duncan, Daughter-in-love Cindy Silvas of Ardmore, step-son Billy John Bagley of Arizona, niece Cindy Hodge of Texas, nephew Dowlin Mayfield and wife Denise of Florida and very special friend Janice Favors of Texas, as well as many cousins and friends she called family.
