Help Us Protect Walters’ New Smart Meter System
As part of the City of Walters Public Works Authority meter upgrade project, radio transmitters have been installed on utility meters to improve service reliability, meter reading accuracy, and system efficiency.
These transmitters and related meter equipment are City property and must not be damaged, removed, tampered with, or altered.
Ordinance No. 600 Reminder
Under City of Walters Ordinance No. 600:
If a customer, or the customer’s agent, representative, guest, invitee, employer, contractor, or any other person acting on their behalf intentionally or unintentionally damages, tampers with, destroys, removes, or interferes with any meter, radio transmitter, pipeline, wire, utility equipment, or other Public Works Authority property, the customer shall be responsible for all repair and replacement costs.
These costs may include:
- Replacement of damaged meter equipment
- Replacement of radio transmitters and related components
- Labor and service charges
- Materials and equipment costs
- Any additional expenses associated with repairs
Important
Any repair or replacement costs will be billed directly to the utility account and will be due and payable with the customer’s regular utility bill.
