Oklahoma 4-H’ers from across the state will gather on the Oklahoma State University campus this summer for the 105th Oklahoma State 4-H Roundup, themed “Wild About 4-H.” The event will take place July 22-24, with County Night Out kicking off the experience on July 21.
State 4-H Roundup is the culminating event of the 4-H year, bringing together youth to celebrate accomplishments, build leadership skills and connect with 4-H’ers from across Oklahoma.
“‘Wild About 4-H’ really captures the excitement and spirit Roundup delegates will feel the moment they step into the opening assembly in Gallagher-Iba Arena,” said Cathy Allen, 4-H curriculum coordinator with Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development at Oklahoma State University.
Throughout the event, 4-H’ers will participate in educational workshops, assemblies, district rallies and social activities. From hands-on learning and competitive events to evening entertainment and dances, Roundup provides opportunities for members to learn, grow and strengthen friendships.
“We’re offering workshops on things like building confidence in tough conversations, learning video and storytelling skills, exploring wildlife and even using AI tools,” Allen said. “It’s a fun mix of real-world topics and hands-on learning, while still honoring the traditions that make Roundup special.”
Competitive events such as FCS Skill-a-thon, Job Readiness, 4-H Food Showdown, Livestock Quiz Bowl and other state contests will allow 4-H’ers to showcase knowledge and skills developed through their 4-H projects.
The Wednesday evening activity, Pete’s Safari, introduces participants to academic programs and student life at OSU. Representatives from colleges and organizations across campus will share information about majors, career pathways and opportunities available to students.
4-H’ers can also participate in campus tours and workshops led by OSU departments and faculty, helping them become more familiar with the university.
“I hope 4-H’ers leave Roundup feeling more confident in who they are and excited about where they’re headed,” Allen said. “Being on the Oklahoma State University campus helps them start to see themselves in that next chapter, whether that’s attending OSU, another college, careers or roles in their communities.”
Thursday evening’s Honor Night, presented by the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, recognizes outstanding achievements of Oklahoma 4-H’ers. During the ceremony, two 4-H’ers will be inducted into the Oklahoma 4-H Hall of Fame, and state record book winners will be announced. Scholarships totaling more than $200,000 will be awarded.
4-H’ers will also hear from candidates campaigning for positions on the state 4-H leadership team and will vote to select incoming officers. Outgoing officers will reflect on their year of service during the closing assembly.
“There’s just something special about it. You have parents and even grandparents who came to Roundup, and now these kids are making their own memories,” Allen said. “It’s that mix of tradition, pride and belonging that keeps it meaningful year after year.”
