Steve Langford, 81

Norman, OK

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Temple, OK, on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

On September 15, 1944, Steve Langford was born in Temple, Oklahoma to Kermit and Geraldine Jarrett Langford and departed this life in Purcell, OK on April 12, 2026 at the age of 81.

A difficult birth resulted in substantial injuries that caused lifelong problems for Steve. Just as important, it also defined his “never give up” character.

Steve grew up in Temple, living with his large family in the “Round House” north of town. Despite his handicaps he was taught discipline and not to be afraid to try.

The city of Temple helped Steve develop. Many townspeople were instrumental in making sure Steve was included and given a chance. Through sheer determination Steve played summer league sports and attended school.

In the early 1970’s Steve moved to Lawton and was given the chance of a lifetime. He was employed by civil service to work for the Fort Sill, OK post laundry. Later he transferred to work at the post commissary.

Another transfer sent Steve moving to Norman, OK. He had a new job working at Tinker Air Force Base as a “parts chaser” on the aircraft engine assembly line. He retired in 1995.

Steve was a Sooner and a football season ticket holder for thirty years. He and brother Warren traveled all over the Midwest to attend OU football games.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, big sister Karen and little brother Richard.
