Multi-Agency DUI And Distracted Driving Awareness Exercise Conducted At Temple High School

Cotton County Sheriff’s Office and Cotton County Emergency Management, in coordination with local and state partner agencies, conducted a DUI and Distracted Driving awareness exercise on April 9, 2026, at Temple High School.

This full-scale exercise involved a simulated motor vehicle collision designed to demonstrate the real-world consequences of impaired and distracted driving. The event included participation from law enforcement, fire, EMS, air medical, and supporting agencies.

The exercise was conducted in a controlled environment with safety measures in place at all times. No real injuries occurred during the event.

Students from Temple Public Schools observed the demonstration, which highlighted the serious and often life-altering consequences of impaired and distracted driving, including injury, loss of life, and legal repercussions. The realistic nature of the exercise helped reinforce the importance of responsible decision-making behind the wheel.

Cotton County Emergency Management would like to extend a sincere thank you to Temple Public Schools for recognizing the importance of programs such as this and for their continued support in promoting student safety and awareness. We also extend our appreciation to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for their involvement and commitment to public safety education.

Additionally, we would like to thank all participating agencies and personnel whose time, effort, and professionalism made this event possible. The success of this exercise reflects the strength of interagency collaboration and a shared commitment to protecting our community.
