The Walters Chamber of Commerce board met on January 12th at 5:15 p.m. at the Walters Community Center in Walters, Oklahoma. The meeting was officiated by Daci Padgett.
Item #1 — Board Members present were Carrie Belcher, Joi Bellamy, Shirley Cooper, Myiul Morris, Daci Padgett, and Wendy Zimmerman. Board Members Matt LaFee and Donna Ouellette were unable to attend.
Item #2 — Additional Chamber Members and/or Visitors present: Diana Fincher (Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance) and Bailee Hart (CT Legacy Insurance).
Item #3 — Carrie Belcher made a motion to approve the current Financial Reports. Shirley Cooper seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All. Nays: None.
Item #4 — The Board discussed the upcoming Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet, scheduled for January 29th at 5:30 p.m. at the Cotton Electric Community Room. Daci Padgett will serve as Lead Chairperson. Matt LaFee will chair Catering, Speakers, and Entertainment. Carrie Belcher will chair Flyers and Programs. Ticket prices are to be determined. Plaques for Citizen of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Business of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year will be purchased locally from Darlyn’ Creations. It was discussed to possibly postpone the banquet. No further action was taken.
Item #5 — The Board discussed updates regarding the upcoming Pancake Supper. Wendy Zimmerman will serve as Lead Chairperson, and Carrie Belcher will chair Flyers and Tickets. Ticket prices will remain $7.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door. Kids 5 and under will be $4.00 in advance and $5.00 at the door. Kids 2 and under are free. Dahlia Garden Club will decorate.
Item #6 — Advertising/Economic Development: Nothing presented.
Item #7 — New Business: Diana Fincher and Bailee Hart expressed an interest in becoming Chamber Members and Board Members. This item will be placed on the February agenda.
Item #8 — Myiul Morris made a motion to adjourn. Wendy Zimmerman seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All. Nays: None.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Walters Chamber of Commerce will be Monday, February 9th, at 1:00 p.m.
