PUBLIC NOTICE

ORDINANCE NO. 598
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE WAURIKA LAKE MASTER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT FEE.
WHEREAS the City Council of Walters, Oklahoma, is responsible for paying the Oklahoma Water Resource Board and the Waurika Lake Master Conservancy District certain fees, billed monthly and annually, for services including water storage, silt removal, power operations, among others;
WHEREAS the citizens of the City of Walters, Oklahoma, benefit from those services; and
WHEREAS the City Council of Walters, Oklahoma, acting within the scope of its legislative authority, deems it necessary and in the best interests of the City of Walters, Oklahoma, and the citizens thereof, to establish a fee on all water meters served by the City of Walters, Oklahoma, to help defray the costs charged by the Oklahoma Water Resource Board and the Waurika Lake Master Conservancy District;
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of Walters, Oklahoma, as follows:
SECTION 1. FEE ESTABLISHED
All monthly utility bills for water service provided by the City of Walters, Oklahoma, shall henceforth contain The Waurika Lake Master Conservancy District Fee (“WLMC Fee”) in the amount of Four dollars and 50/100 Dollars ($4.50). Said fee shall continue to be charged per month per meter.
SECTION 2. USE OF FUNDS
The funds collected from the WLMC Fee shall be used to pay the fees charged to the City of Walters, Oklahoma, by the Oklahoma Water Resource Board and the Waurika Lake Master Conservancy District.
SECTION 3. NOTICE EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall be published in full one (1) time in The Walters Herald within ten (10) days after this ordinance’s passage.
This ordinance shall be referred to a vote of the electors of the City if a referendum petition is properly filed within thirty (30) days after its passage. Otherwise, it shall go in effect thirty (30) days after passage.
