Why Experience Matters for Walters’ Future

As a resident of Walters, I care deeply about the direction our city is headed and the kind of leadership we choose to guide it. With another city council election approaching, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on what kind of representation best serves our community.

Wes Eidson, the current Councilman-at-Large, has served three consecutive terms on the Walters City Council and is seeking a fourth. During his time in office, he has brought experience and stability to a council that plays a critical role in shaping the future of our city.

Before serving on the council, Wes worked for the City of Walters as superintendent over the Water Department for 10 years. That background has given him a deep understanding of the city’s infrastructure and day-to-day operations. His familiarity with city water and electric systems, streets, and municipal departments allows him to contribute meaningfully to council discussions and to evaluate proposals with a practical, informed perspective.

One quality I value most in a council member is independence. Wes Eidson is not someone who simply goes along with the crowd. He asks questions, studies the details, and votes based on what he believes is in the best interest of Walters and its citizens. That kind of thoughtful leadership helps ensure transparency and encourages decisions that consider both immediate needs and long-term consequences.

Service to Walters does not stop at the council table. Wes is also active in community events and organizations that help promote and strengthen our city, including the Chamber of Commerce. He is a familiar presence at events such as the Car Cruz, the Easter Egg Hunt, and Fourth of July celebrations. His visibility and approachability reflect a genuine commitment to staying connected with the people he represents.

In recent years, citizens of Walters worked hard to revitalize the City Council and elect leaders who better reflect the community. With a new city manager and a council that listens to residents, we are beginning to see positive change. Roads are being repaired, long-needed projects are moving forward, and the council is actively addressing the responsibilities voters entrusted to them.

Wes Eidson has been an important part of that progress. He has demonstrated a willingness to listen to citizens, consider differing viewpoints, and stand firm when he believes an issue affects the city’s well-being. His experience and institutional knowledge provide continuity at a time when steady leadership matters.

Every election is an opportunity to decide what direction we want our city to take. As Walters continues to move forward, I believe experience, independent judgment, and community involvement should be central to that decision. For those reasons, I support Wes Eidson’s continued service as Councilman-at-Large.
