Walters Fire Department Awarded A $10,000 Grant

David Taylor & Karla Eschiti

We are proud to share that the Walters Fire Department has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation Grant Program.

Grants like this are critical for small-town fire departments, allowing us to upgrade and purchase life-saving equipment that directly impacts emergency response and public safety.

A huge Thank You to Karla Eschiti for taking the lead on applying for this grant and to Fire Chief, David Taylor for his dedication and hard work throughout the process. Because of their efforts, this funding will be used to purchase a new vehicle extraction tool.

Why this matters:

This specialized tool allows firefighters to quickly and safely extricate trapped individuals from vehicles following accidents, while also supporting a wide range of emergency rescue situations beyond vehicle incidents. It reduces rescue time, improves survival chances, and provides safer, more controlled access to patients in critical situations.

We are incredibly grateful to the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation for investing in rural emergency services and to everyone involved who helped make this grant possible. This is a big win for the City of Walters and the safety of our community.

Thank
