The Annual Community Christmas Program was held Sunday, December 7, 2025, in the school auditorium. This was an evening filled with music from instrumentalists and vocalists, scriptures read, and prayers shared—definitely a great way to begin the Christmas season. Greeters, Krystal Dedmon and Carla Thomas, welcomed the audience members with the program.
The prelude, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” was the first number presented by Charla Dedmon. Representatives for our local churches were Brantley Tillery – First United Methodist Church; Brad Spurlock – First Baptist Church; Tara Brown – Presbyterian; Cydni Tillery – Bethel United Methodist; Paul Metcalfe – First Nazarene; Roger Noland – Open Door Church; Tory Fodder – Brown Indian Baptist Church; and John Nease – Letitia Baptist Church. We are most fortunate to live in a community where our churches come together to share the good news of Christ’s birth.
Walters Elementary’s Singing Sensations, directed by Denise Tulloh, performed “Rise Up Shepherd and Follow” and featured lovely soloists in the group. Daci Padgett, accompanied by John Morgan and Jorel DeGuzman, impressed everyone with her song, “Oh, What a King.”
Roger Noland had the distinctive pride and joy of singing with his adorable grandbabies, Sarah and Caleb. The precious members of the First Baptist Church Children’s Choir sang a very sweet song entitled “Jesus.” They were followed by the First Baptist Church Adult Choir who provided perfect “accompaniment” for Robin Burns’ beautiful solo, “Noel.”
Andra Spurlock’s captivating rendition showed off her piano skills with her Christmas special, “What Child Is This?” “Somebody Build a Manger,” a most challenging special, was sung by Pamela Henson for her vocal presentation. Once again, Cody Newby amazed the audience with his beautiful vocal piece, “Mary Did You Know?”
The final portion of the program was presented by the combined Middle School Chorus and Walters High School Varsity Choir. Their selections were “Wise Men Still Adore Him,” “Carol of the Angels,” “Peace on This Silent Night” (with “Silent Night”) and “Happy Birthday Baby Jesus.” Much appreciation goes to the singers and their families for sharing their talents with the community.
The program was accompanied by Charla Dedmon, Program Director. A huge thank-you goes to Kristie Smith, who provided the technical expertise needed for the program.
Instrumental accompaniment was provided by the following: Paul Metcalfe, Roger Noland, Bill Penn, Dillon Newby, Denise Tulloh, and Charla Dedmon. Choral Director was Pamela Henson.
Special appreciation and acknowledgements go to participating church musicians, the Ministerial Alliance, Walters Public Schools for the use of the facilities, and to all others that helped or participated in the program. The special offering will be shared with the Middle School Vocal Music and Varsity Choir to cover contests, honor choirs, and other music expenses and with the Walters Ministerial Alliance to aid those in need in our community.
