Barbara Swinford Sauerman, 88, Duncan, OK

Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Friday, November 7, 10:00 a.m., with burial following in the Walters Cemetery.

Barbara Jean (Swinford) Sauerman was born to Troy and Ruth Swinford on January 10, 1937, in Walters, Oklahoma, and departed this life in Duncan, Oklahoma, on November 2, 2025, at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

Barbara grew up at Walters and was a graduate of Walters High School. While living in Chickasha, she met her future husband, Ronnie Sauerman, and they were married on November 16, 1956, in Chickasha. While living in Kansas, she had a store front floral business for a number of years before returning home to Walters.

Barbara loved working in small stores, bookkeeping, and retail management. She also had a great talent for floral design and was a strong woman with a strong work ethic, always trying to make the best of situations.

Among her favorite pastimes were gardening, sewing, and arts and crafts. She enjoyed time spent at home but also spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronnie; and one brother, Royce Swinford.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie (Swinford) Saunders and husband, Randy, of Walters; her sister, Brenda Hallmark of El Reno, OK; three grandchildren, Sarah Runnels, Justin Sauerman, and Shane Sauerman; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
