For the fourth time in the last five years, the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association has recognized Cotton County deputies for their outstanding service and dedication. We are proud to announce that several of our deputies were honored this year by the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association for their bravery, dedication, and service to Cotton County.
• Deputy Kru Simpson and Deputy Lori Hedges received the 2025 Life Saver Award for their heroic actions during a swift water rescue, when they successfully saved a driver and passengers from a vehicle swept into a flooded creek.
• Deputy Lori Hedges was also recognized for her quick response to an overdose emergency. She administered Narcan and performed CPR when the victim stopped breathing.
• Deputy Tyler Smith joined Deputy Hedges on scene and immediately took over CPR, working alongside her to save the victim’s life.
• Deputy John Anderson was awarded Reserve Deputy of the Year for his outstanding service and commitment to our community.
We are incredibly proud of these deputies for their courage and dedication to protecting and furthering our commitment to our community.
