Burkburnett, TX
Funeral services were held at Central Baptist Church in Burkburnett, TX on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:00 am, with Rev. James Porterfield officiating. Interment followed at 1:30 pm in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon from 2:00–4:00 pm at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
Mary Anita (Abbe) Adams was born March 22, 1938 in Walters, OK to Clemmie and Faye (Strickland) Abbe and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on July 8, 2025 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 16 days.
Mary grew up southwest of Walters, graduating from Temple High School. She married Roger Glenn Adams on January 1, 1960 at Union Valley Baptist Church, and to the union two children were born. They made their home in Burkburnett since 1964. She was employed by Civil Service at Fort Sill and Sheppard AFB for 18+ years, then worked several years for the county tax office.
Mary enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and traveling the country. She and Roger enjoyed many trips to visit Ella in Washington State and stopped to see everything in between. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemmie and Faye Abbe; her husband, Roger Adams in 2016; her son, Glenn Adams in 1998; her daughter, Melynda Adams in 2000; her brother, Howard Abbe; and three sisters, Ella Chambers, Margaret Hilton, and Wilda Abbe.
Survivors include five grandchildren: Leslie Yates of Dallas, TX; Matt Adams and Cheryl of Graham, TX; Justin Hiner and Rose of Burkburnett, TX; Shawn Adams and Charmis of Wichita Falls, TX; and Kyle Adams of Wichita Falls; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carla Phillips and Jerry of Walters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
