Barbara Elaine Barbe

Kemmerer, WY

It is with a heavy heart the family of Barbara Elaine Barbe, age 82, announces her passing away at South Lincoln Medical Hospital in Kemmerer, Wyoming on June 19, 2025. Barbara was born in Cotton County, Oklahoma to Leroy Athel Barbe, Jr. and Vivian Annie (Turner) Barbe on February 28, 1943. She grew up in Southwest Oklahoma, attended grade school in Comanche, and graduated from Walters High School. She later attended beauty school until she felt she had learned enough to get by.

Barbara married Leroy Stapp on January 13, 1962, and together they had four wonderful girls—Betty, Delaina, Charlotte, and Angi—who were the center of her world. Her children gave her strength during the hard times and joy during the good ones. In 1980, Barbara and her daughters moved to Southwest Wyoming, where she loved the mountains and wildflowers.

Barbara worked tirelessly to care for her family, holding multiple jobs throughout her life. She worked as a seamstress at Haggar Slakes for over 20 years, later as a desk clerk at Little America, and finally as a DOT Officer for the State of Wyoming, retiring in 2007.

A loving mother and grandmother, Barbara had a heart for helping others and could fix anything—whether it needed fixing or not. She cherished time with her family and especially loved cheering on her grandkids at the ball fields. Barbara stayed connected with everyone, often talking for hours, and never missed a chance to express her love and pride in her children and grandchildren.

Barbara also had a deep love of reading, especially her Bible, and shared her strong faith with everyone she met. She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies (often on repeat), and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her brother Wayne Roy Barbe of Lawton, OK; daughters Betty (George) Collins of Kemmerer, WY, Charlotte (Jeff) Sherbeyn of Rock Springs, WY, and Angi (Micah) Lipscomb of Temple, OK; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Jan Barbe of Geronimo, OK, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Ann Beam; brother, Clifford Earl “Skip” Barbe; daughter, Delaina Sue Stapp; and nephews Donnie Beam, Brent Barbe, and Billy Beam.

Though she is gone from this earth, Barbara’s faith was strong, and her family finds peace in knowing she is celebrating in Heaven. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
