On May 17, 2025 at the Expo Center in Walters, Oklahoma the Dahlia Garden Club held their annual Flower Show. Members of the club presented their Horticulture, Design and Educational Exhibits and 4-H Youth showed off succulents they had grown. The show was judged by Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges.
The theme for the show was “Springtime in Oklahoma.” There were 51 Horticulture Classes and top awards went to Iris Fraticelli for Best Specimen of the Show and Sweepstakes for receiving the most Blue Ribbons in Horticulture.
The Design Section of the show carried out the theme with designs in three classes:
Class 1: “Good Morning Sunshine”

2nd – Shirley Johnston
3rd – Iris Fraticelli
Class 2: “Spring Luncheon”
1st – Kelly Mitchell
2nd – Carrie Belcher
3rd – Iris Fraticelli
Class 3: “Happy Mother’s Day”
1st – Shirley Johnston
2nd – Kelly Mitchell
3rd – Carrie Belcher
Shirley Johnston was awarded Best Design of the Show and Kelly Mitchell won Sweepstakes with most Blue Ribbons in Design.
The Educational Exhibit Blue Ribbon was awarded to Melanie Spence for her outstanding presentation on Mason Bees.
Youth entries were from four age groups in 4-H. They cared for the succulents they planted and reaped the rewards! All entries were praised by the judges.
Programs were provided all day by Master Gardeners on various subjects from container gardens to growing & showing iris. Concession was provided by 4-H members.
