BPHS Senior, Lawson McCullough Signs With Clarendon College

DEVOL, OK — April 29, 2025

Big Pasture High School senior Lawson McCullough officially signed his letter of intent on Tuesday to play college baseball for Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas. The signing marks a major milestone in the journey of the Devol native, who has spent more than a decade on the diamond preparing for this next step.

Surrounded by family, coaches, teammates, and community supporters, McCullough made the commitment in a ceremony held at Big Pasture High School. The 2025 graduate has been a cornerstone of the Rangers’ baseball program and a multi-sport athlete known for his work ethic, leadership, and love of the game.

Lawson, the son of Denver and Janis McCullough, has been playing baseball since the age of four. His athletic path has included participation in youth leagues like Southern Star and the Burkburnett League, where he began honing the skills that would carry him through high school competition. Whether it was on the ballfield, in the gym, or supporting school activities, Lawson was always a visible and valued part of Big Pasture sports.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to have had so many great people around me growing up,” McCullough said at the signing event. “From little league coaches to high school mentors, and everyone in between, I just want to say thank you. I wouldn’t be the player—or the person—I am today without all the love and support from my family and this community.”

Athleticism runs deep in the McCullough family. One of Lawson’s brothers, Aiden, currently plays baseball for Southern Nazarene University, setting a strong example for pursuing both academic and athletic excellence at the collegiate level. Lawson, who plans to study communications and political science at Clarendon, is looking forward to balancing academics with what he hopes will be a successful college baseball career.

“I’m excited for the chance to compete at the next level,” he added. “I plan to study hard, play lots of good baseball, and make the most of this opportunity.”

Clarendon College, a respected two-year institution with a competitive baseball program, offers student-athletes like Lawson a chance to continue developing their game while preparing for future transfers or professional opportunities.

As Big Pasture says goodbye to one of its standout seniors, the community does so with pride and encouragement for what lies ahead. For Lawson McCullough, the journey is just beginning—and his hometown will be cheering him on every step of the way.
