Betty Lou Dyer, 85 Walters, OK

Funeral services for Betty Lou Dyer will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters, Oklahoma. Don Crow of the Walters Church of Christ will officiate, assisted by Mark Greenroy of Joshua, Texas.

Betty Lou Dyer was welcomed into Heaven by her Heavenly Father on February 19, 2025, at the age of 85. Although her passing was unexpected, we rejoice in the faith we have in Christ, knowing that Betty is now resting peacefully in her new body and in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Betty was born on October 12, 1939, in a farmhouse near Temple, Oklahoma, to Joe and Rena Phillips. At an early age, her family moved to Walters, where she attended school and graduated from Walters High School in 1957. During this time, she was a member of the Walters Church of Christ.

After graduation, Betty moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she worked for the telephone company for one year. While there, she developed a taste for the steak sandwich on garlic toast served at the Pioneer 3 restaurant.

Betty later moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, after being hired by Security Bank and Trust Company, where she worked from 1959 until her retirement in 2000. During her career, she served as a teller and later as an ATM Manager.

On June 30, 1962, Betty married the love of her life, Ronald Wayne Dyer, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Betty and Ronny enjoyed 62 years of marriage, making their home in Lawton, where they raised two sons. While in Lawton, she was a member of the 8th and Lee Church of Christ. In 2009, Betty and Ronny moved to Norman, Oklahoma, to be closer to their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandsons. Betty loved her sons dearly, but she had a special love for her grandsons.

Betty was an avid fan of University of Oklahoma football, particularly in the 1970s and 80s, and she never missed an opportunity to remind Ronny when OU defeated his Texas Longhorns. She was also a dedicated fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, rarely missing a game on TV.

Above all, Betty was a faithful Christian who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived by His Word.

She is survived by her husband, Ronny Dyer; two sons, Drew Dyer and wife Kellie, and E.J. Dyer and wife Christi; four grandsons, Jake and wife Mikayla, Jackson, Ethan, and Will; two sisters, Shirley Greenroy and her son Mark Greenroy and family, and Vickie Forbrich and her son Phillip Forbrich and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Rena; a sister, Grace; and a brother, Leroy.

Betty was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
