Alysia Oliver, 42 Walters, OK

A memorial service will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

Alysia Sue Oliver was born on December 8, 1981, in Richmond, TX, and passed away on November 27, 2024, at her home southwest of Walters, OK. She was 42 years old.

Alysia grew up in Northeast Kansas, attending schools there until high school, when she attended Cookson Hills Christian Academy in Oklahoma. In 2004, she moved to Brownwood, TX, where she worked as a CNA and later as a home health aide. On May 2, 2020, she married Kenneth Wayne Powell Jr., also known as “Pete.” They were married on Pete’s family ranch and lived there until moving to Oklahoma in 2021.

In July of 2021, Alysia was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. After a long year-and-a-half fight, undergoing both radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she was declared cancer-free.

While undergoing treatments, Alysia and Pete moved to their farm near Walters, OK, where they raised sheep and working dogs. Alysia served as the primary ranch hand, while Pete operated their bulldozer service.

Alysia loved her animals and often spent long nights tending to bottle-fed babies. She was an amazing horsewoman who enjoyed trail rides with friends. She loved fishing, carrying her gear in her pickup and spending a week every fall deep-sea fishing off the Texas coast. A passionate photographer, Alysia captured thousands of photos of nature, the sky, her animals, and more.

Alysia had a great sense of humor and was quick with a witty comeback. She loved her friends, her family, and most of all, her husband Pete—even on days she joked about wanting to kill him. She will be greatly missed.

Alysia was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jay D. Hollingshead, and her paternal grandmother, Sharon K. Oliver.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Powell, of the home; her mother, Susan Hollingshead; her father, Carl G. Oliver Jr.; her sisters, Sarah Brady and Kristen Gilliland (Jack); her aunts, Catherine Hensley (Emery), Caryn Lloyd (Terry), Kayla Heptig (Bob), and Linda McColloch (Pat); her maternal grandparents, Otis and Linda Boardman; her paternal grandfather, Carl G. Oliver Sr.; and many other relatives and friends.
