7 Cotton County Inmates Get Baptized Over the Weekend

City Manager Matt La Fee and Assistant Pastor of Hastings First Baptist Church, DeRay Smith, have spent the last six months ministering to inmates at the Cotton County Jail. Working with Sheriff Tim King and Emergency Management Director Lori Hedges, they were able to get approval and scheduling. Matt stated that Sheriff Tim King played a major role in their ministry at the jail and coordinating dates and times for the baptisms. On November 30th at 11:00 a.m., four men and three women dedicated their lives to the Lord. Matt told The Walters Herald, “The Holy Spirit moving behind those walls and calling each of them to proclaim their faith publicly and take the next steps in their walk with the Lord … It’s amazing how God works! I am thankful the Lord used me to help them take that huge step in their walk with the Lord.” Walters has been very lucky to have a City Manager who has not only gone above and beyond for our small town but goes the extra mile for the residents in our community, truly giving meaning to “Small town big heart.”
