Bobby Wayne Scarberry was born to Joyce Louella (Stoker) and James Elbert “Jack” Scarberry on May 18, 1944, in Ardmore, OK, and departed this life at his home in Walters, OK, on November 19, 2024, at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Bobby grew up in Temple, Walters, and Lawton, OK. After high school, he worked at Lacy’s Furniture before traveling the U.S., including time in California and other states. He met Sally Martha Steenwerth while working at a gas station in New Jersey. They married on August 19, 1967, in Trenton, NJ, making their home in New Jersey and Virginia Beach, VA, before returning to Lawton in 1972. Bobby worked for Wagner Carpet in Lawton before moving to Byers, TX. They later returned to Lawton, where he began doing auto body work, employed by Double Eagle, B & M, and Guy’s Body Shop, among others. The family settled in Walters in 1979, and he was last employed with Johnny’s Car Care. He was a member of Lawton Christian Center and enjoyed attending church, teaching Sunday School, and Kids Church. A jack of all trades, he loved tinkering on cars in his shop, watching John Wayne movies, and reading Louis L’Amour westerns. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandkids. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Jack Scarberry; his mother, Joyce Leath; and three sisters, Billie, Joyce, and Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Sally, of the home; four children, Kathleen Helton of Walters, Stephen Embree and Shelly of Oklahoma City, OK, Shannon Smith and Richard of Walters, and Cynthia Walters and Charles Ellis of Walters; a sister, Doris Pickle of Ohio; four grandchildren, Weston Hoodenpyle and Lacie of Walters, Ryder Smith of Velma, OK, Kadyn Smith of Edmond, OK, and Kellan Guerra of Walters; and five great-grandchildren, Jayci Fenhaus, Memphis Smith, Stratton Smith, Steehli Smith, and Indy Smith.
