City Hall has hired a new Animal Control Officer, Wallie Breaden. Wallie will be patrolling the streets within the City of Walters, handling all our animal control issues.
Animal control officers have many duties, including:
• Enforcing animal laws: Animal control officers enforce laws and regulations related to animals.
• Capturing animals: Animal control officers capture and transport stray, dangerous, or sick animals to safety.
• Investigating complaints: Animal control officers investigate complaints about animal cruelty, neglect, hoarding, and intentional abuse.
• Providing care: Animal control officers provide food, supplies, and medical care to animals in their custody.
• Euthanasia: Animal control officers may euthanize animals that are too dangerous.
• Responding to emergencies: Animal control officers respond to emergencies and assist pet owners in crisis.
• Providing education: Animal control officers provide humane education and outreach to the public.
• Picking up deceased animals: Animal control officers pick up and dispose of deceased animals.

We encourage all animal owners in our community to be responsible with their animals. Please follow all City Ordinances and State Statutes. The Animal Control Officer will be issuing citations to animal owners not following the laws in these Ordinances or State Statutes.
