City Hall wants to thank Marie Detty for their interest and support in the City of Walters. City Manager, Matt LaFee, and Chief, Tyler Smith, had the pleasure of meeting with Ashley Chapman and Dorthy Richardson from Marie Detty today. They discussed the need for their programs and services in Walters and Cotton County. They are currently looking for a space to set up a satellite location in our community.
Marie Detty and Youth Family Services Center, Inc. provides a continuum of care for the children, youth, and families of Southwest Oklahoma. Prevention, diversion, protective, and treatment services establish the cornerstone of intervention. Additionally, they advocate on behalf of children, youth, and families on issues impacting our community.
Marie Detty dedicates its programs and services to the belief that empowering families to resolve issues within a moral and responsible environment is the most effective path to promote healthy, productive citizens. Support, advocacy, and intervention can assist families in providing the character, habits, and personal responsibility to help children and youth develop into capable individuals. Intervention allows individuals and families the opportunity to realize their full potential.
Domestic violence describes the use of fear, intimidation, coercion, threats, or violence to gain power and control over someone. Domestic violence includes, but isn’t limited to:
• Emotional abuse
• Economic abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Isolation
• Physical abuse
Typically, these issues escalate over time, becoming more severe or more frequent. Those experiencing any form of domestic violence are welcome at their emergency shelter for children and adults. Contact their domestic abuse emergency shelter.
