City Hall News

By the City Of Walters

The City of Walters and City Hall would like to thank the Comanche Nation, Comanche Homecoming Committee, and the Comanche Nation Chairman, Forrest Tahdooahnippah, for their generous donations to the City of Walters’ Sultan Park Electrical Enhancement Project.

The Comanche Nation donated 50% of the total project cost of $14,223.73. The Comanche Nation has a special interest in Sultan Park, holding their annual Comanche Homecoming Powwow there for the past 71 years.

The Sultan Park Enhancement Project is an electrical infrastructure upgrade to poles, electric lines, outlets, and site hookups. The Comanche Homecoming Powwow continues to grow each year, and we want to be able to accommodate their electrical needs. We will be upgrading the current system and installing additional RV/motorhome hookups, more access points for campers, vendors, RV/travel trailers, and support staff.

These upgrades are an important part of becoming more efficient and prepared for future demands. It will help accommodate future events that the City of Walters would like to start hosting at Sultan Park.
