Judith Ann (Witt) Burton made her last witty remark and has gone on to be with her Savior on October 10, 2024. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Grandfield Baptist Church with Reverend Tony Nickel officiating under the direction of Gray Funeral Home.
Judy was born on November 12, 1942, in Grandfield, OK, to Jess Witt and Juanita Fritze and was raised on a farm northwest of Grandfield on what she described as “a quarter section of poor red clay.” She graduated from Grandfield High School in 1960 and attended Cameron University, where she was a cheerleader. Judy took a temporary detour from her education to work in several roles, including weighmaster at several livestock auctions. She married Kenneth Burton on February 26, 1966, and they resided in Burkburnett before moving to their current Devol farm in 1972. After raising her sons, she returned to Cameron University and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1994. Judy taught math and computer technology at Big Pasture Public Schools and subsequently managed her son, Brandon’s, law office in Walters until her retirement in 2021.
Judy is survived by her husband, Kenneth Burton; her sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Kim Burton of Edmond, OK, Matt and Kristin Burton of Edmond, OK, and Tiffini Singleton of Mustang, OK; her sister, Carol Witt of Sedan, KS; and her grandchildren, Ashton Evans, Braxton Burton, Claire Burton, Courtlyn Burton, Brie Burton, Kate Burton, and Bo Burton; and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Judy is preceded in death by her son, Mark Burton; her parents, Jess and Juanita Witt; and her brothers, Bob Witt and Bill Witt.
