Graveside services at the Temple Cemetery, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial donations can be made to The Toby Keith Foundation in support of OK Kids Korral. Hazel A. (Cox) Rylant was born to Andy Lee and Daisy Ethel (Davis) Cox on November 10, 1933, in Temple, OK. She was the 6th of 7 children. She departed this life in Temple, OK, on October 13, 2024, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 3 days.
Hazel grew up in Temple. She married Russell Jack Rylant in February of 1950 in Burkburnett, TX. To this union, they were blessed with Diane and Andy. Harold Parkey later came into her life, along with their pride and joy, “Cowboy,” the puppy. They enjoyed farming and ranching until his passing in 2009.
Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing dominoes with Harold and friends and collected Beanie Babies. She also enjoyed being outside and loved working in the yard. She kept a neat and tidy house, was a good cook, and a good granny or Granny Grunt, as she referred to herself. Hazel was preceded in death by her companion of 26 years, Harold Parkey; her parents, Andy and Daisy Cox; 3 brothers, Jack, Creed, and Gene Cox; 2 sisters, Dorothy Lambert and Jobillie Lynch; her granddaughter, Deidre Witt; and a great-granddaughter, Farrah Love Sinclair. She is survived by her children, Diane Witt Walton and husband David of Forney, TX, and Andy Rylant and wife Cheryl of Edmond, OK; her sister Nelda Cooper of Norman, OK; her grandchildren, Dodie Witt-VanSchuyver, Sky Rylant and wife Christa, and Jenna Rylant Sinclair; her great-grandchildren, Chandler VanSchuyver, Hannah VanSchuyver, Emma Rylant and Brooks Rylant, Arabella Sinclair and Veil Sinclair; her nieces, nephews, and friends.
