Purple bow’s were tied around trees, and street posts down Broadway on Wednesday October 2nd in honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A note attached to the bow’s stated, “The month of October is nationally designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The ribbon helps raise public awareness of intimate partner violence assault and the services available for survivors, as purple is the color for Domestic Violence Awareness. Marie Detty New Directions provides free, confidential services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. We serve men, women, and families in the counties of Comanche, Cotton, and Caddo. Services include counseling, 24-hr crisis hotline, crisis intervention, court advocacy, and emergency shelter.
