Funeral Service at the Walters Comanche Nation Community Center Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., Edward Eschiti officiating, with burial following in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Walters Comanche Nation Community Center.
Jamie Sue (Coy) Tahchawwickah was born to Jerry Wayne and Lou Ellen (Chockpoyah) Coy on May 30, 1963, in Lawton, Oklahoma, and departed this life in Walters, Oklahoma, on September 28, 2024, at the age of 61 years, 3 months, and 29 days. Jamie grew up in Walters, graduating from WHS in 1981. She married Patrick Allen Tahchawwickah, and to the union, 2 sons were born. Jamie worked at various places, including Barbara’s Drive-In and washed dishes at Parkview Manor while still in school. She then worked at the Dairy Queen and E & L Snack Shack. Her main employment was nearly 30 years as a CNA/CMA at Waurika Nursing Home, Duncan Care Center, and Temple Manor. She also worked at the Dairy Queen in Comanche, was a manager at McDonald’s under her Aunt Geraldine, and then worked for a time at Comanche Star Casino.
Jamie enjoyed talking on the phone, listening to the radio, playing cards at Grandma’s, singing opera, crocheting, and visiting with family and friends. She loved going to family gatherings, powwows, and sporting events to watch the kids play.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Allen Tahchawwickah; her mother, Lou Ellen Coy; and a brother, Jerry Coy. Jamie is survived by her father, Jerry Coy; her 2 sons, Verdon Lee Tahchawwickah and Johnnathan Riggins Tahchawwickah; her sister, Sally Coy; her stepdad, Popcorn Gwoompi; nieces and nephews, Sidney Barton, Sancey Barton, Penny Reece, and Levi Campbell; her aunts and uncles, Jack Chockpoyah, Jeannie Ricketts, Eddie and Rose Chockpoyah, Geraldine Gray, and Jessie Foster; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
