Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Neal Jeffrey, Associate Pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Kevin Simpson, with burial in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK.
Visitation on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple, OK.
Nancy Alene (Lipscomb) Nichols was born to Jack C. and Christa Viola (Coffer) Lipscomb on December 31, 1955, in Walters, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on September 3, 2024, at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 3 days.
Nancy grew up northeast of Temple, OK, graduating from THS in 1974. She then attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry, receiving her bachelor degree in 1978. She worked for the City of Lawton while waiting for Marty Glen Nichols to graduate, and they married on August 17, 1979, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lawton. They soon moved to Dallas, where she worked for the City of Garland as a health inspector, then for Frito-Lay as a lab tech for 10 years. She then started a tutoring business and eventually became a 6th grade math teacher. With Marty coaching, they made several moves through the years including Dallas, Farmers Branch, Bowie, back to Addison, then Frisco, Corsicana, Denison, then built a home in Sherman, and back to Frisco upon their retirement in 2018.
Nancy was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, TX, working with kids in the children’s department. She enjoyed giving to charities that help kids and veterans. She loved spending time with her family, playing golf with Marty, and just spending time at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Christa Lipscomb; a sister, Inda Lou Whitehead; and a brother, Jackie Lipscomb.
Survivors include her husband, Marty Nichols of the home; 8 brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry Lipscomb and Terry of Choctaw, OK, Tex Lipscomb and Ratri of Las Vegas, NV, Barney Lipscomb of Carrollton, TX, J. Mark Lipscomb of Finksburg, MD, Chris Lipscomb and Jana of Walters, OK, Micah Lipscomb and Angi of Temple, OK, Rodney Whitehead and Connie of Stroud, OK, Brian Lipscomb and Maria of Temple, OK; 3 sisters, Kay Good of Temple, Carolyn Freeman of Chickasha, OK, and Brenda Lipscomb of Temple; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Nichols of Rowlett, TX; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Hass of Rowlett and Judi Spradlin of Arlington, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or to Samaritan’s Purse, Boone, NC.
