A Memorial Service for Carol L. Campbell has been scheduled for September 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Snow officiating at the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters, OK.
Carol Lynette (Skinner) Burns Campbell was born on December 23, 1944, in San Diego, CA to Emma Elizabeth (Atkins) Skinner and James Doswell Skinner. After her father’s retirement from the Navy, the family moved to Louisiana where she and her sisters grew up and attended schools in the Mansfield area. Soon after, she married William Edward Burns and moved to Oklahoma, eventually settling and raising a family in Walters. After the passing of her husband Edward in 1988, she eventually met and married Reverend Carlton Edgar Campbell, and they continued to live in Walters until his passing in 2023.
Carol was mainly a homemaker but also worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, including retail, insurance, and as a landlord with her late husband Carlton. She was also very active with her late husband’s ministry work at Richard’s Spur Baptist Church in Elgin, OK. Carol also enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s events, whether it was sporting events, graduations, weddings, or birthdays. They always loved seeing their Gaga, as she was known by all the grandchildren.
Carol had an insatiable love for animals, especially all the dogs she had throughout her lifetime. In her later years, she enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows with her favorite being The Price is Right, as well as old-time western movies. She so enjoyed decorating, as was evident at her home during Christmas and Halloween; she loved dressing up and handing out candy to the kids in the neighborhood. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her, but she leaves behind memories that will continue to comfort us all.
She departed this life on May 27, 2024, in Billings, MT at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth Skinner, and her husbands, William Edward Burns and Carlton Edgar Campbell.
Carol is survived by her sisters Anne S. Reed and Sue S. Tedder; daughters Sharon Renee Graham, Tammy Burns Sheive (Jeff), and Toni Regina Teppert (Alan); son Shan Campbell; grandchildren Britani Wludyka (Jeff), Kassi Pulis (Logan), Jami Simpson (Kody), Brandyn Kitchens, Nathen Graham, Penny Kay Reece (Jonathan); and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
