OKLAHOMA CITY – As the back-to-school season begins across the United States, one crucial focus is reading literacy. Reading is a fundamental key to both academic and career success.
According to the National Literacy Institute, about 79% of U.S. adults are literate, while 21% are considered illiterate. Additionally, 54% of adults read below a 6th-grade level, and 20% read below a 5th-grade level. Low literacy levels cost the U.S. up to $2.2 trillion annually in reduced productivity.
