Carol Thompson Mahoney, 79 Hastings, OK

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Pastor Sean Mayfield officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.

Carol Beth Mahoney was born to Claude Fred and Dola Marie (Dobbs) Thompson on October 28, 1944 in Frederick, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on April 6, 2024 at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Carol grew up southeast of Temple, OK, graduating from Temple High School in 1962. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degrees in education and special education. She married Jerry Herman Mahoney and to the union a son, Jerry Kevin Mahoney was born.

Carol taught elementary and special education, making her home in California, Arizona and El Paso, TX, before returning to the family farm in rural Hastings, OK. She enjoyed gardening and yard work in general. She also enjoyed eating out with friends and loved her dog, Bo.

Shewasprecededindeath by her parents, Claude and Dola Thompson; her son, Kevin Mahoney; and her sister, Claudine Carrell.

She is survived by a niece Susan Correll-Hankinson and John, their son Sean and his wife and kids; a niece, Robin Thomspon, her daughter Brooke Kimberlin and her husband and 2 kids, and Robin’s son, Nicholas Thompson and his wife and 2 kids; a nephew, Mark Correll and wife Sarah; her bonus family, Sean and Cindy Mayfield, and son Sage of Hastings; her cousins, other relatives and friends.
